Japan: Paying People to Make Babies

The fact of the situation is simple: Japanese people are too busy working to have children. The country is becoming a nation of the elderly. The social structure of Japan will collapse on itself if something is not done to resolve this dilemma soon. Japan must figure out how to increase it’s labor force to both care for the elderly and maintain its very existence. So the Japanese government is using their super smart Japanese robotic brains and have decided to pay people to have kids.

As part of the manifesto that helped the DPJ rout the long-ruling Liberal Democratic Party in last month’s election, families will receive 26,000 yen (about $280) per month for each child through junior high school.

It isn’t easy to raise children in Japan, where the birth rate of 1.37 children per woman has fallen well below the replacement level of 2.07 and contributed to structural problems facing the world’s fastest-aging society. The reasons cited are myriad: the cost of schooling, a lack of daycare options and an increasing number of women unwilling to interrupt or forego their careers among them.

Last October, more than 40,000 Japanese children were unable to register with government-approved day care centers, which are larger than their private counterparts and have better resources, such as playgrounds.”

If you read the interesting article, it seems like the main problem is the lack of “government-approved” day care centers. That’s pretty shitty, I’d like to go to Japan with others who are interested in making an investment, buy property SOMEWHERE with a dense population and just open up a fun educational day care center. I would need a team of committed specialists though. We’d make so much bank.

But back to my jokes: They’re getting offered money to have children. Best case scenario, you have a kid to make sure Japan exists in the future. Worst case scenario, you have a WHOLE lot of “pointless” sex. Maybe that will loosen up the Japanese a bit. That sounds like a perfect society to me considering I get offered money to not have sex with people.
